Since 2006, Valerie Buddle has been dedicated in her work with the not-for-profit cultural community in Montreal. She is a passionate cultural administrator, specialized in contemporary dance, committed to finding solutions for every challenge. Her background as a former choreographer lends insight into her work in culture and she thrives on learning and collaborating with fellow creatives in her field.
Valerie grew up studying dance in Ottawa and Toronto. She obtained her BFA in Contemporary Dance at Concordia University in 2004. Upon graduating, her choreographic work was presented at a number of venues and festivals across Canada, most notably at Studio 303 (Montreal, QC), the Bouge d’ici festival (Montreal, QC), Guelph Dance (Guelph, ON), Series 8:08 (Toronto, ON), the fFIDA International Dance Festival (Toronto, ON), and the FAST Festival (Sorel, QC).
Expanding into administration, Valerie has worked for José Navas/Compagnie Flak, The Margie Gillis Dance Foundation, and Diagramme - Gestion Culturelle. While at Diagramme, Valerie had the opportunity to work with many arts organizations including Le Patin Libre, Bourask, and Compagnie Katie Ward. She has consulted for numerous artists and organization including Ivanochko et Cie, Lindsdans, and Danse à la Carte. From 2012-2018, she served on the board of directors of the English Language Arts Network (ELAN) and served as Vice-President from 2015-2018.
Valerie joined the Centre de Création O Vertigo - CCOV in 2017 as Administrative Director. She takes pride in working with the team at CCOV, providing a space devoted entirely to experimentation and creation. Her work supports the hundreds of artists who pass through CCOV’s doors every year. Through the CCOV, Valerie has most recently collaborated with Bboyizm (Yvon Soglo/Crazy Smooth), Animals of Distinction (Dana Gingras), Daina Ashbee, and Alan Lake Factori(e).
