Focused on artistic and literary expression from an Italian-Canadian perspective, Accenti Magazine appeals to English-speaking Italophiles around the world. With fiction, non-fiction, reviews, and interviews that spotlight the Italian component of Canada’s multicultural fabric, Accenti has been acting as a bridge between cultures since 2002. Between 2003 and 2014, 31 print issues were published and their content posted simultaneously on Accenti Online. Over 200 Canadian contributors are responsible for more than 1000 items – in the form of photographs, illustrations, and articles.
The Accenti Writing Contest and the Accenti Photo Contest, two very popular initiatives, together generate hundreds of entries each year. They attract many established professionals as well as emerging artists whose exposure through Accenti has helped them build on their artistic profile. Each contest offers a $1000 top prize, in addition to three $100 runner-up prizes, and publication.
In 2014, Accenti published "Conspicuous Accents – Accenti Magazine's Finest Stories of the First 10 Years", a 300-page soft-cover volume of contest-winning and other well-received published short stories. Articles and stories published in Accenti are often re-published or cited in university journals and other publications.
