The Centre Culturel Georges Vanier presents the work of Colleen Leonard, Masters student in Art Education and the recipient of the first Bourse Concordia-CCGV. Entitled Période de Floraison/Blooming Period, the series consists of botanical cyanotypes, or sun prints, a 19thcentury photographic printing process which produces blue prints. The cyanotype process, through exposure to sunlight and washing in water, is the essence of photography – light, paper, chemistry, water. Each work is a physical trace of an ephemeral moment revealed through chemical interactions. Echoing the arrival of spring outside the gallery windows, the exhibition is a celebration in blooms made in collaboration with time, light, and nature.
