Kathryn Gabinet-Kroo

Kathryn Gabinet-Kroo came to Montreal from the United States in 1977 and has been painting ever since. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the U.S. and Canada and taught drawing and painting at the Saidye Bronfman Centre School of Fine Arts for ten years. Her work is included in, among others, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Claridge Investments, Gaz M├ętropolitan, and Avmor collections.

Gabinet-Kroo also works as a free-lance translator. She earned a Masters in Translation Studies in 2001 (Concordia University) and specializes in 20th Century Quebec literature. She has translated five novels and a collection of short stories by Canadian Indigenous writers for Exile Editions, and excerpts of her translations have appeared in Geist and the Exile Quarterly, as well as online at carte-blanche.org, quebecreads.com, ambos.ca and jewishfiction.net.
