How did we experience the world before we could speak or read -- when we were babies?
Can we still experience the world that way?
My multimedia installations call the viewer to explore a subject using these pre-verbal capacities. The installations synthesize still images, ambient sounds, moving images and music. They fill the exhibit space to immerse the viewer in an experience that powerfully evokes the subject.
I use the rhythms of: dark and light, sound and silence, motion and stillness, melody and dissonance, to create a vivid experience for the viewer. I attempt to sidestep (or at least complement) our everyday knowledge of the subject.
My intent is to leave everyone with a richer appreciation of the subject.
